Sims 4 Let’s Play: The Locklear Family

Black love knows no bounds…or does it when abuse is brought into the mix?

The Locklears are relatives of the Gates family, therefore pretty well off and connected. Caroline and Landon Locklear fell madly in love, yet maybe they shouldn’t have with all the toxicity their love has brought forth. Theirs is one of my most complex let’s play (LP) storylines.

Much of Caroline Locklear’s story begins with her family history, The Gates Family. Her father was an ain’t shit sigga for most of her life until she turned 16. At that point he leveled up his career life as an engineer and as a committed man to his man lady, Latisha Moore. With a great deal of rightful bitterness and resentment, Caroline went to live with her father as her white Sim mom, Dominique, was not able to compete financially with what he could provide. Her teenage years in the Gates household were mixed with rebellion and becoming comfortable with the reality that she’d be rich for the rest of her life because her father finally was claiming her.

As for her future husband, Landon Locklear, didn’t have that great of a start to his life either. He grew up with a mother, Mama Locklear, who hopped on any dingly-ling she could find. It’s a wonder she married his father before he died! A woman who never wanted children, highly intelligent, and thicker than a snickers, Mama Locklear wasn’t a healthy representation of a mother to Landon. When his eldest brother died, she became even less attentive and caring. Bouncing from house to street to house again, Landon’s upbringing was tumultuous for no reason. When he met Caroline, he was doing his best to finish college and wanted deeply to find a great love that would last forever.

While at university, Caroline and Landon began dating and once they found that they were both bipolar, it felt like Sim world was bringing to destined lovers together. Caroline wasting no time fucking him every chance she got, and even moved him into the Gates’ household without her auntie’s, Elisha Michaelson, permission. Staying at home was a bit restrictive for the couple who just wanted to be themselves without prying eyes or caring about the needs of others. Unfortunately, with all their fucking came an oopsie! Caroline and Landon were pregnant with their first child, Valerie Locklear, before Caroline graduated from college. Landon showed Caroline the unconditional love she longed for from her daddy, Malik. So much so that when she was kidnapped by scammers, Landon unalived them in a cave and saved her life, not once but twice!

When Caroline’s father died, she was awarded over 100k Simeoleans from his will. With her Auntie Elisha growing tired of having a full house at the Gates’ residence, Caroline and Landon decided it was best to move out. Little did she know, Landon had already started to show signs of psychosis by unaliving thieves who tried to break into the Gates’ household. His love for murder grew, as did his alcoholism! The couple decided to move to Oasis Springs with Valerie, and their future son, Landon Jr., growing in Caroline’s tummy. The home the found was massive and could be so much for them as they continue to grow their family — though Caroline never wanted kids, but failed to use proper contraception with her sexy ass husband.

As newlyweds, it was time for the couple to also get real jobs. Landon decided to join the military because it meant he could go on missions where he might likely get to unalive more people, plus his homies from his favorite bar spoke highly of being servicemembers. He opted for the Marines. Caroline decided to pursue acting and writing because she had such a storied life growing up. Though, she mainly would find herself being a stay-at-home-mom to their children. In their new home Valerie came of age to teenager, and that’s when he clinical depression diagnosis was confirmed. The poor girl grew up with two bipolar parents that didn’t seek therapy let alone tried to understand their disorders. With Landon drinking before and after work, he wasn’t much of a good example either. And Caroline hated kids, so her affection was never directed towards her children.

In comes Mama Locklear, seeing that he son and his wife were become deadbeat-like parents she offered to move into their home when Caroline became pregnant with her third and final child, Kayla Locklear. A rainbow baby, Kayla was halfway wanted and unwanted by Caroline following a miscarriage due to fear Landon caused on another one of his drunken, violent reactions to robbers trying to break into the home. When Caroline started being bullied by trick ass bitches in the Oasis Springs neighborhood, he took matters into his own hands and unalived them for his wife. A gesture of love for sure, but still psychotic. Mama Locklear barely spoke of his behavior while staying with them, that was until he started directing his anger towards his family and specifically her.

Landon Jr. (LJ) wasn’t able to escape the toxic unhealthiness of their home either. Being that he grew up lighter than the rest of his family, his sister Valerie often called him light bright like the kids at school and his parents barely remembered him with their often self-focused interests. Still, LJ had a tender heart and was very caring. His grandma often called on him to help out around the house while they waiting for Baby Kayla to come into the world. LJ idolized his daddy, but Landon rarely showed the boy any cool father-son things — except for that one time the family went camping at Granite Falls and Landon showed him how to handle any peddos he might come across in the world.

With the birth of Kayla, Caroline was ready to stop making babies but not the baby-making activities. So she went and had a hestorectomy without her husbands knowledge. When she told Landon he had two fists filled with his favorite drink. To say he didn’t take the news lightly is an understatement! It was with this decision that Mama Locklear finally saw her daughter-in-law as somewhat smart. She also began to encouage Caroline to always protect herself and her kids, even from Landon. His drinking was getting much worse, and he was being erratic more towards his family. One night he even tried to hit Mama Locklear over the head with a bottle! Unsurprisingly, the next day Mama Locklear let the family know she’d be looking for her own home soon since Baby Kayla was growing into a healthy-ish toddler and she refused to allow her son to put his hands on her.

With LJ a teenage, Valerie off to college, and Baby Kayla walking and talking, it was evident that Caroline needed to think about what her marriage would be like going forward. She encouraged Landon to go to therapy, but he was hesitant. To help herself, Caroline began going to group therapy and saw how impactful it could be for her family. Then the unthinkable happened, Landon decided to hit his son, LJ. It happened during an argument the two were having as LJ found the courage to confront his father about his drinking and the violence he displayed to strangers often. Landon didn’t appreciate the little sigga puffing his chest up, but especially took issue to LJ slapping him to give an example of what Landon’s violence felt like to the family. Landon beat the crap out of LJ and the next day Valerie went off to college at Foxbury to get away from the family drama and issues.

Can Caroline get Landon to go to therapy consistently as they enter into their elder years, and is it too late for them to become better parents to their three children?
